If you see that there are injured people or the damages look major to you, call 911. Then, if possible, obtain the number of the police report.
Contact your broker as soon as possible to report the incident. He will let you know the procedure to follow; he will forward your claim to your insurer as quickly as possible and follow up so that it will be settled rapidly and fairly.
If your broker is not available, you can contact your insurer directly by calling their emergency-incident number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Make sure, however, that you contact your broker soon as possible so that he can follow up on your file with your insurer. Your broker know that settling an insurance claim can be stressful for you. That is why he stay at your side and represent you in all the negotiation with the insurer. That’s the advantage of dealing with a broker.
